Visit of Genoa and its historic center: Piazza De Ferrari, the Ducal Palace, Christopher Columbus’ House, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Porta Soprana, Piazza Banchi, the “Musei di Strada Nuova,” Palazzo San Giorgio, and the Old Port area.
In the morning, meet with the tour guide for a guided visit of the historic center. On foot, through the narrow streets of the city — the so-called “carruggi” — fascinating stories will unveil the city’s official history, enriched by details softly illuminated by time, forgotten anecdotes and curiosities, myths and legends that reveal the charm and beauty of this splendid city. You will visit Piazza De Ferrari, the Ducal Palace, Christopher Columbus’ House, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Porta Soprana, Piazza Banchi (once the city’s marketplace), the “Musei di Strada Nuova”, Palazzo San Giorgio, and the Old Port area (entrance fees to be paid on site). At the end of the visits, free time for lunch or the option of dining in a traditional local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Galata Maritime Museum, which features an engaging and innovative exhibition, including faithful reconstructions of a 17th-century galley and a 19th-century brigantine schooner, the evocative “Storm Room,” the “Italian Ocean Liners” exhibition, and over 6,000 original objects that tell the fascinating story of humankind’s relationship with the sea. Afterward, visit the Nazario Sauro submarine, the largest Italian submarine open to visitors while still in the water. Free time at your disposal. We recommend visiting the Aquarium (entrance fee to be paid on site), the largest in Italy and the second largest in Europe, featuring 70 exhibition tanks that host around 15,000 animals.
